Meet the Doctors
Dr. Nate Blume
Nate A. Blume, D.C. is dedicated to empowering every individual to reach their full potential. Dr. Nate has chosen to help others live a life of wellness to ensure that he can raise his own family in a healthier environment. Through education and proper lifestyle choices, Dr. Nate knows that each individual can live the life of their dreams.
Dr. Nate was born in Huntingburg, Indiana and attended Indiana University, where his studies included a concentration in Nutrition and Exercise Science. As a student in Bloomington, Dr. Nate worked at the Student Recreational Sports Center (SRSC) as a Strength and Conditioning Consultant. It was through this experience Dr. Nate realized his desire to help people get healthy.
“While working at the SRSC, I found great enjoyment in educating individuals on how to properly improve their health through exercise and diet. I became more interested in the mechanics of the body and how it affected function on such an extremely individual basis.”
Dr. Nate’s increased interest in health and wellness led him to classes such as Personal Training, Group Exercise Leadership, and Human Nutrition. While taking these classes, Dr. Nate visited his own chiropractor, which led him to his career today.
“I realized chiropractic was my calling while visiting my chiropractor, Dr. Phil Gilbert. Dr. Gilbert explained the principles and philosophy behind chiropractic. He talked about helping people heal naturally and allowing express health without drugs or surgery.”
Dr. Nate attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. Palmer is historically considered the fountainhead of chiropractic because of its strong philosophy of innate health. Followers of this philosophy believe health comes from within, and the body’s natural state is optimum health expression, functioning well, and feeling good.
“I always knew I wanted to work with people to improve their quality of life. Palmer and chiropractic provided me with the best tool to do this – the ability to educate and to adjust.”
Dr. Nate graduated in March of 2002 from Palmer and moved back to his home state of Indiana. Wanting a cultural and spirited environment, he settled in Indianapolis and opened Lakeshore Chiropractic. His brother Dr. Cole graduated from Palmer in 2005 and immediately joined the practice.
“Most people truly want to be healthy, but so many make their health decisions based on marketing they see on television or the newest fad diet. For our practice members to have a different outcome, we knew we had to address the true cause of poor health expression.”
Dr. Nate and sons Trent and Drake, lead the same healthy lifestyle he encourages his practice members to lead. Always looking for new recipes and quality sources of organic vegetables, fruits and meats, Dr. Nate loves to prepare fun and nutritious meals for his family and shares them with his practice. Dr. Nate is an avid runner and enjoys challenging his body to express its vitality through exercise and sport.
“I’m on a mission to create a healthier community in which to raise my family. We have too many kids that know which prescription mom and dad take when they can’t sleep or feel sad. I want my boys to recognize that great results take effort whether it is in school, a career, or our health.”
Dr. Cole Blume
I am blessed to have found a calling that fully expresses my core values (Faith, Truth, and Excellence) in a way that impacts the lives in my community. When I was 14, I met my father’s chiropractor at a career fair and asked him questions; his answers shaped my entire future.
Most people recognize the intrinsic value and importance of maintaining their health. But we are constantly bombarded with information that depowers us from the real Truth of where health comes from. Turn on any TV, open any magazine or newspaper, and there it is: a compelling case that you are lacking something; that when you are sick, you need something outside your body to intervene and do what your body can not do on its own. This dogma has been present for so long, and has become so intricately woven into the fabric of our society, that when challenged, most people have strong emotional reactions against it. My job is to help restore the natural healing power of the body through the nervous system, and to help align a person’s values and beliefs with the universal laws (Truth) of healing.
What is this Truth?
- The Truth is that the body heals itself.
- The Truth is that most people in our society are currently searching for ways to improve, maintain, or regain their health.
- The Truth is that there is no chemical, nor intervention in the world, that can heal the body; they can only improve the condition and environment in which the body can heal.
- The Truth is that most people are sick and dying because of the way that they live their lives. No drug will correct a problem caused by living a life in which we eat, move, and think in ways that God had never intended for the body.
In our office, we have created a complete system designed to provide the body the best opportunity to express this intelligence and life force. We are passionate about speaking these Truths as often as possible, and providing the care that people so desperately need.
Coming from a background in education, I am thrilled to be in a place that teaches people. People come to Lakeshore and learn about wellness solutions that transform their lives. I knew from day one that I was in a special place of learning and growing, but I did not realize the impact it would have on my own life.
